Founded in 2014, the CT Artists' Beit Midrash is an artists’ critique group and workshop where we create visual commentaries inspired by the study of Jewish texts. This Beit Midrash is for Jewish artists of all affiliations and skill levels. We have done workshops related to the Purim Megillah (at the JCC of Greater New Haven), the Four Sons of the Haggadah (at the Orchard Street Shul), and the Sukkah (which culminated in an installation for City Wide Open Studios in New Haven). Rabbi Yossi Yaffe of Chabad of the Shoreline teaches the Jewish texts; and Leah Caroline, a New Haven artist, facilitates the critiques and workshops.
The CT Artists' Beit Midrash is inspired by the other Artists' Batei Midrash across the US; the first one was founded by Tobi Kahn at the Skirball Center in NYC.

Rabbi Yossi Yaffe directs Chabad of the Shoreline with his wife Rochel Baila. Since 1999 they have been reaching out to Jews of all ages on the Shoreline through study, innovative programs, communal events and by taking care of those in need.
